Politics aside, we can see the writing on the wall. Over the last year, recruiters have been living high on the hog and gorging themselves on a tight labor market…

But if you look at some of the ‘normies’ out there (ya know…regular people with ‘real’ jobs) they’re feeling the hurt. …and while to them they’re feeling the effects of a recession, for us on the agency side of things we’ve been well-insulated —

I see the way this is starting to affect recruiters. When I talk to you folks on the front lines, I always make it a point to ask what you’re hearing from your clients and candidates —

You see, what makes a recession a recession is the change in our clients and candidates behavior…

And you better believe they are gearing up for it right now.

There’s a better than even chance that right now, your clients’ leadership teams are in cost-cutting mode, big-time…

That means (you guessed it) hiring freezes, potential layoffs, spinning off business units, shutting off investment in non-essential projects, etc:

…and this is only the beginning.

I’m willing to bet that many of you have heard the first rumblings of this from your clients, or have heard your candidates start to show reluctance to make major career moves…

I have, and many of my clients have as well.

Bottom-line, I fully expect over the next six months to see across the board layoffs affecting 5-10% of the workforce in many industries. In some sectors, it will be much higher. In others, nothing…

But in the average…yeah it’s coming.
